I am a sixth-year Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UC Berkeley. I earned two B.A.s in 2018 and an M.A. in 2021 from the same institution. I am primarily interested in the fields of sociolinguistics and critical sociology. My research revolves around the topic of gender-inclusive language and makes sociological arguments about language as a category of power and the right of queer and trans people to have and use adequate forms of self-identification. Relatedly, I am the founder of the Gender in Language Project, which aims to offer grammars of gender in as many languages as possible. I will graduate with my Ph.D. in Summer 2025.
